Hajime and his mother, walked across the snowy neighborhood, steadily make their way to the snow-covered park. The air was cold outside and Mrs. Hirozaki regretted agreeing to come out here today. She had told Hajime a few weeks ago that she would take him to see one of his close friends Ellie at the park today. When she realized it would be this cold, she tried to reschedule the play-date for a different day but Hajime whined, stating "You pwomised, mommy! You pwomised!"over and over and she just couldn't help but say yes. Ellie was a very special friend of Hajime's and he wouldn't lose the fight to be able to see her again.
Hajime was wearing a black hoodie with wolf ears on top of the hood and there was a blue stripe going down each side. Under the hoodie, he only wore light blue pawprint padding that was slightly visible. The hoodie had ruffled frilly fur at the bottom that kind of made it look like a dress. At the end of his long sleeves more ruffled fur hid his hands completely unless he moved it back. He was also wearing blue and black laced ribbon-like ankle cuffs with the same ruffled fur at the top. He wore black socks but no shoes.
Though Hajime didn't wear any pants to keep his legs warm, the cold didn't bother him much. He had always loved snow as well as cold weather in general; to him, it was just as amazing as flowery spring or a rainy summer!
Mrs. Hirozaki held Hajime's hand as they reached the park, looking around and trying to find Ellie and her mother. Hajime jumped excitedly when he spotted them sitting on a bench near the swing set. Ellie sat on the bench next to her mother, swinging her legs back and forth and cuddling a familiar gray kitten plushie.
Ellie was dressed in a pink, thick, long sleeve dress with a hood with bear ears. Two bows of the same color wrapped her black hair in pigtails, her usual way, and her curious red eyes scanned in different directions. Under her dress, she wore white stockings and fluffy pink boots, and a light pink diaper with a bear on it.
As she looked around, she spotted Hajime and his mother. Her eyes went wide and she excitedly jumped off of the bench and ran over to Hajime, leaping as she got close. The two of them both fell to the snowy ground, hugging and giggling.
"Ewwie!" Hajime squealed, giggling.
"Hajime!" Ellie said with the same tone.
Hajime and hadn't seen Ellie since the time they'd met and yet it wasn't the slightest bit odd to see her again! Ellie was one of the friends that Hajime felt immensely comfortable around because she shared certain traits with him. Like Hajime, she loved to draw, loved stuffed animals, and was shy around new people. But around each other, they were as playful as any other two year olds.
"Hello, Ellie!" Mrs. Hirozaki said, laughing. "You two go ahead and run along. I'm going to say hello to your mommy, okay?"
"Ohwtay!" Ellie said, happily.
Hajime stood up, spreading his arms as wide as he could. "I missed you dis much!"
While his arms were spread out, Ellie hugged him once again, almost making him fall over. He blushed brightly, surprised by her sudden action, and hugged her back.
"I missed you too, Hajime!" Ellie said with glee.
Hajime noticed Ruru, in her hand, wrapped in a winter sweater and wearing a Santa hat. He giggled to himself, seeing how silly his old stuffed kitty looked in the clothes. "You gave Ruru clothes?"
"Uh-huh!" Ellie said, cuddling the little cat close. "I love him so much!"
Hajime said, smiling. He really liked the way Ellie smiled; it was contagious to him! "Whaddya wanna do, Ewwie?"
"Wanna build a snowman?" Ellie suggested.
"Ohwtay!" Hajime agreed.
The two of them immediately started rolling snow into a big, spherical shape. Hajime and Ellie bumped into each other over and over as they tried to roll up the snowballs. They giggled and squealed as it quickly became a race! Eventually the two of them, built snowballs that were each bigger than them. They stacked the snowballs on top of each other, forming a body. They quickly rolled another snowball, this one a bit smaller, to be a fitting head.
Ellie held up the last snowball and realized how high their unfinished snowman was; there was no way they could reach that! With them boy being the same height, neither of them would be able to lift it that high up.
"Ewwie, Mr. Snowman ish too tall..." Hajime said, frowning. "We can't weech it,"
"I know..." Ellie said, disappointed.
Hajime thought for a moment and leaned down. "Maybe you could weech it if I help you up!"
"Wanna try?" Ellie asked, excitedly.
"Uh-huh!" Hajime said equally motivated.
Hajime crouched low, allowing Ellie to step onto his back, snowball in hand. She sat on his shoulder, holding the snowball in two hands as be stood up, immediately almost falling over.
"H-hurry, Ewwie!" Hajime said, trying to keep his balance:
"You gotta stay still, Hajime!" Ellie said, determinedly aiming.
Hajime toddled back and forth, trying to stay as still as possible but it wasn't an easy thing to accomplish. Though Ellie was small and would seem weightless to anyone else, Hajime was small as well and wasn't all that strong. He dug his feet into the snow in order to stand firm.
"Awemost got it..." Ellie said, her tongue sticking out the way someone does when they're very eager. She lifted the snowball as high as she could and set it down right on top. "I did it!"
Right as the little girl squealed so excitedly about her accomplishment, Hajime's strength let up and the two of them plummeted into a large pile of snow with a thud, basically burying them.
"Owwiee..." Hajime mumbled as he stood up. He helped Ellie up and the two of them brushed the snow off of their clothes. Hajime wiggled uncomfortably. "I think there's lotsa snow in my clothes now, Ewwie..."
"Me too," Ellie said, shivering and letting snow drip out of the hood of her jacket. "Ish cooooold!"
Hajime took off his socks and put them back on after emptying them of the frozen snow. Ellie let the snow drip from her boots. Hajime lifted his hoodie up and Ellie lifted her dress, exposing their tummies and padding.
"No snows in my hoodie..." Hajime stated.
"Me neither," Ellie said, looking down.
The two of them stared at each other for a moment then both burst out with laughter; they couldn't help it, realizing how ridiculous their common actions were.
"Ewwie ish silly," Hajime stated, chuckling.
"Nuh-uh!" Ellie said, giggling as well. She looked at Hajime closely and pointed."You have puppy paws on your diapey."
"H-huh?" Hajime said, quickly pulling down his hoodie and blushing."Oi... Well, Ewwie hash bears..."
Ellie responded the way, but seemed less embarrassed than Hajime did. She smiled shyly. "Uh-huh, I wike bears,"
With that said, Hajime got an idea. He ran over and grabbed a small stick before running right back over to Ellie.
"Wanna draw on the snowman?" Hajime suggested. He pointed shyly. "We could draw a wolf on this side and a bear on that side..."
"Ohwtay!" Ellie said, immediately starting on her bear.
On the right side, Ellie drew a large circle and drew in all of the features skillfully. Hajime did the same with the wolf, keeping it simple but accurate. After they drew their respective animals, with much effort, they poked eyes I to the snowman, filled the mouth area with pebbles, and lent the snowman Ruru's Santa hat.
"Tada!" Ellie squealed, throwing her arms in the air.
"Ish so cool!" Hajime said, his eyes gleaming.
As the two of them admired the snowman, both of their mothers grabbed them from under their arms by surprise, lifting them high up. The two children giggled as their mothers tickled them before putting them down.
"It's getting cold out here!" Ellie's mother exclaimed, shivering. "I think it's about time to go home Ellie."
"Aww..." Disappointed, Ellie and Hajime frowned.
"Well," Mrs. Hirozaki began. "If you'd like, you and Ellie could come over to our place for some hot chocolate. It's perfect for cold days like this."
"Yesh!" Hajime agreed, as if he was answering for them.
"What do you think of that, Ellie?" Her mother asked, laughing.
"Yesh yesh yesh!" Ellie said eagerly.
"Well then," Ellie's mother said, smiling. "We're both super thankful for your offer. We'd love to come over!"
With that said, the four of them headed to the Hirozaki household, somewhat happy to get out of the cold. Hajime was elated that he'd be able to show Ellie his house; he could tell she was excited as well. The two of them giggled the whole way there, excited for the second part of their tremendous day.
